Brother & Sister pairing take the 2007 Bader Cup
The 2007 Bader Cup was won for the first time in its 21 year history by a brother and sister pairing who took the prize on The Alamos Course, Portimao, Portugal in glorious sunshine on 7th November. Eleanor (22hcp) and Matthew Harrison (+1 hcp) from Burghill Valley Golf Club and who had qualified at the Bransford, Worcester regional final earlier in the year, came home with 39 points, 2 clear of the field on this magnificent course.
Undoubtedly the wonderful weather played its part in putting a smile on everyones face but the condition of the course and the challenge of the super but tricky greens proved to be the icing on the cake for each of the twelve qualifying couples from throughout the UK. At the prize giving Gala Dinner John Southwick, founder and Tournament Director of the competition, said how delighted he was with they way the event had gone, particularly when the awful late spring weather in the UK had caused so many problems and cancellations of club rounds.
Keith Delderfield, Director of Operations for the Douglas Bader Foundation, the benefiting charity of this competition expressed his gratitude on behalf of DBF to the sponsors Monarch Scheduled (

www.tivolilagos.com ) and Golfe de Morgado each of whom have extended their invaluable support for a further year when the final will be played from 9th- 13th November 2008. He went on to say that how grateful the charity are to John Southwick and congratulated him for achieving the 21st Bader Cup Final in what was the start of the Silver Jubilee Year for The Foundation.
