Beyond Boundaries Exhibition

A national consumer show which will offer disabled visitors the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of activities is to be staged.

Beyond Boundaries Live, the first event of its kind in the UK, will take place at Sandown Park in Esher, Surrey, on June 29 and 30. Entrance and parking will be free.

Visitors will be able to attend a series of seminars, featuring Olympian Ade Adepitan MBE, the face of the BBC wheelchair dancing trailer, X factor finalist Kerry McGregor and Stuart Boreham, the first disabled person to row across any ocean unassisted.

Jim Bonney, the Royal Marines only ‘operationally deployable’ amputee and Colin Javens, whose ‘Drive Home’ quest saw him use a tiny movement in his wrist to drive from Stoke Mandeville hospital to Cape Town will also be speaking.

Visitors will be able to learn to play basketball with members of the GB Wheelchair Basketball Team, try wheelchair rock climbing or learn how to cast off with British Disabled Angling at the interactive sports demonstration area.

In addition there will be an opportunity to test drive cars, hand cycles and specially designed motorbikes.

The show will also focus on work, mobility, holidays, the arts and relationships.

Beyond Boundaries Live will showcase a wide range of suppliers to the disability sector who will be exhibiting a wide range of products and services, from wheelchairs and prosthetics to cars and specialist holidays.

Event organiser Rob Sherwood said: “Central to the show is a ‘can do’ attitude, and not viewing disability as inability.

“Visitors will be able to participate in some fantastic activities and also hear from a whole range of inspiring speakers.”
